Eligo Cars Inc (hereinafter, “Eligo”, "we", “our”, or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and would like to inform you on how your information is collected and used. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of information that is collected through our website, mobile application, and any other mobile or online service owned and offered by Eligo (collectively “Platforms”). By providing personal information to us, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

Collection of Personal Information

As used in this Privacy Policy, the term “Personal Information” refers to any information that specifically identifies an individual such as as name, email address, phone number, address etc., as well as demographic information such as date of birth, gender, preferences etc., that allows that individual to be identified. We collect your personal information either directly or through third party services in order to provide you with our services and to offer you a personalized experience on our platforms. The categories of personal information we collect may include:

Identifying Information

Identifying information such as your name, address, phone number, and email address, that you provide us when you are registering to use Eligo.

Financial Information

Eligo collects your financial information to be used during a transaction and to distribute payment to vehicle owners; this includes the personal payment information that you provide us directly, as well as the third party information stored on outside services such as Stripe. By submitting your payment information to us directly and linking your Eligo account with a third-party payment service, you authorize Eligo to access and use your information to provide you with payment or accept payment for our services. Information collected by third-party service providers is subject to only that provider’s privacy policy We have no control over, and are not responsible for the personal information that is collected and used by third parties.

Personal Identifiers and Demographic Information

You may be asked to provide Eligo with demographic information, a scanned copy of driver’s license, and/or passport, driver’s/ vehicle’s record, insurance information, social media account information, and other forms of identification. If you submit any personal information relating to other people to us or to our service providers in connection with the services that we provide, you accept that you have the authority to do so and to permit us to use this information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We use personal information to provide to you the full features and functionality of the services we offer, as well as to communicate directly with you, such as to send you email messages, and permit you to communicate with others on the platforms, or on social media, or invite others to join the platform. We may also use information to provide personalized content, including advertising. We may also send you platform and services-related emails or messages (e.g., account verification, change or updates to features, technical and security notices). We may also collect any other personal information you provide to us, or that we are permitted or required to collect by applicable law.

Please keep in mind that any and all of your communication with Eligo employees and help center may be recorded and saved.

Collection of Usage Information

Location Tracking

If you opt in to use our Location Tracking service, you agree with Eligo’s collection of geographical-location data including location information from your mobile device, the movement of your vehicle, and movement of the vehicle that you have rented on our platforms. Location Tracking is used to share information between the renters and car owners about their location, as well as access users’ locations for emergency situations.

Use of Cookies

When you access our platforms, Eligo or third-party companies we work with may place small data files on your computer such as cookies, clear gifs, e-tags etc., or use tracking/recording tools, web beacons, log files etc (collectively “Cookies”). We use these technologies to track user usage, for content and marketing, measure promotional effectiveness, and to keep your account safe by identifying fraud and other security risks.

Information Collected From Third Parties

We may also obtain information about you from third parties such as identity verification services and credit bureaus where it is permitted by law. If you provide us with your Social Media information such as Facebook and Google, you allow Eligo to access your information stored on these third parties. The information we receive depends on the third party’s policy on information sharing and is controlled by that site. We are not responsible for how these third parties use and store your information.

Storage, Use, and Processing of Information

Our main purpose of collecting personal information is to make your experience on our platforms safe, efficient, and customized. We may use this information in the following ways:

Eligo or the service providers that we work with may reach out to you using the contact information you provide, about any account issues or verifications, to inform you about discounts, coupons, promotions, and service updates, to send you surveys or polls, and/or to help troubleshoot issues with service or account.

We may also contact you to enforce our Terms of Service, and may use prerecorded emails, texts, phone calls to resolve disputes.

We may retain your Personal and Usage Information as long as it is necessary and relevant for our operations. We may also retain information from closed accounts to comply with any applicable laws, resolve disputes, detect and prevent fraud, collect owed fees, process claims, troubleshoot any problems, assist with any investigations, and to enforce our Terms of Service and take any other actions that are reasonably necessary and permitted or required by law.

Eligo may compile aggregate data about the use of their platforms. The information about how you use and interact with our platforms may be collected and combined in a database with other user data to improve user experience, and to use when considering new features. Eligo may also share aggregate demographic data with advertisers and partners. This aggregate data does not identify any individual.

Third Party Information Sharing

Eligo may share your information with third party service providers that perform services on our behalf or otherwise help us provide services on our platforms under reasonable confidentiality terms.

Your information may also be shared with whom you communicated on the platform, and may be displayed on public posts you choose to share on our platforms. Any informations that you volunteer for posting on the platforms such as your User Profile becomes available to the public, and can be controlled by any applicable privacy settings. Information regarding your public profile photo, the city where your car is located, calendar availability, and feedback on your profile are some examples of your personal and account information that will be available to the public on our platforms.

When you use Eligo to rent out your car to other individuals you agree for them to be able to access you by messaging on the platform, and to gain access to your phone number. When you use Eligo to rent a car listed on our platforms, you agree for the car owner to access your driver’s license information.

Your public profile and your public listing pages may be included in search engines, in which case these pages may be indexed and published on these search engines as search results.

Eligo may disclose your Personal Information to other members of the Eligo corporate family or to third parties such as our insurance and claims providers under applicable law and to comply with legal process, as well as to enforce our Terms of Service, to protect our operations or those of our affiliates, partners, and users, and to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we or our users may sustain.

If we merge with or are acquired by another company, we may share information with them in accordance with applicable law and our privacy standards.

Third Party Advertising

Eligo may use third-party advertising companies to present advertisements to you regarding our services. The advertising presented may be customized based on your access and use of our services and other websites. These companies may use Cookies to track your access and use of our platforms or other websites.

You have the option to customize and change your Personal Information on Eligo by logging onto your account

Communication Preferences

You can choose your preferred method that we contact you about your account, marketing, services, and notifications regarding your use of our services, on your Eligo account.

Marketing Preferences

We do not respond to browser Do-Not-Track signals.

You can choose how we use your Personal Information to communicate with you, send you marketing information, and how we use this information to customize your experience on our platforms.

Protecting Your Information

Eligo cares about the security of your informations and uses security measures in an effort to protect this information against unauthorized access, destruction, and alteration while it is under our control. However, no security system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of the Personal Information you provide, and your transmissions.

In the event that any information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and, where appropriate, notify those individuals whose information may have been compromised and take other steps, in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations. To protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password) to verify your identity before granting you access to your account. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information and for controlling access to your email communications from Eligo, at all times

The services are controlled and operated by Eligo in Canada, and are not intended to subject us to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country, and territory other than that of Canada.

Children's Privacy

Our services and platforms are only for the use of individuals over the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect information from users under the age of eighteen (18). Please do not use our platforms or provide us with any information if you are under the age of eighteen (18). If you are the legal guardian or parent of a child that has already mistakenly provided us with Personal Information, please contact with the purpose of deleting this information, and closing the account.

Third Party Privacy Practices

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from the platforms, nor the information or content contained therein. Please remember that when you use a link to go from the Platform to another website, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. This Privacy Policy does not address, and Eligo is not responsible for the practices of third party service providers, as well as the information you provide to any third party. If you disclose your information to others, or if you are directed to a third party website, their privacy notices and practices apply.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is subject to change. If we make any changes, the terms of the document will be updated under this page “Privacy Policy”. We will post the date of the revision on the top of this page following the words “Last Revised”. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page. Any changes made to the policy are effective upon posting. Continued use after notification means that users accept to abide by the changes stated in the privacy policy.
